Wood Dryer Machines are used for wood drying or else known as seasoning lumber or wood seasoning. When the wood is chopped off for usage, it contains moisture. The process of wood drying is carried out to reduce the moisture content of the wood.
People around the world use wood for many purposes such as building houses, hardwood floors, fuel & energy, etc. But to before putting the wood to any use, It is advisable to dry out the wood.
But why does the wood contain water? And why wood dryer machines play an important rule when it comes to forest & wood industry?
Every component of a tree: leaves, stem, and roots contain water and it is one of the important parts of the photosynthesis process. Hence, when the wood is obtained from trees, it naturally contains a lot of water which is technically called moisture content.
Moisture content can be calculated by dividing the water present in the wood to the weight of the dry wood. Moisture content in the wood varies from species to species.
There are two types of wood drying processes, namely:
When the wood brought to the mills is dried out using kilns ( a thermally insulated chamber that is heated to a specific temperature to carry our different processes like heating, drying, or chemical changes) it is called Kiln drying. And the final product is known as Kiln Dried Timber or Lumber.
The wood kiln drying process is carried out according to the species and dimensions of the lumber or timber in order to ensure that the moisture content is equal across the whole lot.
Air drying process is a simpler process compared to Wood Kiln drying process. To air dry the wood, it is plainly exposed to air. The main component of this process is wood stacking in a cool, clean, dry and shady place.
